· The Ordo Iuris Institute, the Hungarian Center for Fundamental Rights, and the Foundation of the Patriots for Europe group in the European Parliament organized a conference in Warsaw titled “The Last Warning for the West: How to Counter Dangerous Leftist Ideologies in the European Union?”
· The event included a presentation of the book Last Warning to the West: Hungary’s Victory over Communism and Woke Ideology by American author Dr. Shea L. Bradley-Farrell, who took part in the conference.
· Among the guests were Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Krzysztof Bosak and editor Paweł Lisicki. The event featured speakers from Poland, the United States, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and France.
The Warsaw conference was one of several events in Europe where Dr. Shea L. Bradley-Farrell presented her book addressing the dangers associated with leftist socio-political movements, including woke ideology. Other meetings took place in Budapest and Vienna. The Warsaw event was held at the headquarters of the Association of Polish Journalists.
Dr. Shea L. Bradley-Farrell is an expert in national security and foreign policy, and president of the Washington-based Counterpoint Institute for Policy, Research, and Education. She is the author of Last Warning to the West: Hungary’s Victory over Communism and Woke Ideology (December 2023), a book endorsed by numerous prominent conservative leaders. She previously worked directly with the Trump administration (2016–2020) at the highest levels, including at the White House, the U.S. State Department, and with Senior Advisor Ivanka Trump, serving as Vice President for International Affairs at Concerned Women for America.
The conference was opened by Zbigniew Przybyłowski, Director of International Development at Ordo Iuris. He was followed by Ordo Iuris board member and attorney-at-law Rafał Dorosiński, who highlighted the growing influence of radical leftist ideologies.
“The woke movement is currently the most serious threat to Western civilization. It is a worldview born from a fusion of modified Marxism, postmodernism, and identity politics. Wokism aggressively attacks the principles on which Western civilization is based,” he emphasized.
Anna Lakó, International Affairs Coordinator at the Hungarian Center for Fundamental Rights, commented on the current state of Polish-Hungarian relations:
“There are many who seek to drive a wedge between Polish-Hungarian friendship. We were surprised by the hostile attitude of the new Polish government. Many Hungarians are now asking themselves what kind of friendship we’re still talking about,” she noted.
Raphaël Audouard of France, Director of the Patriots for Europe Foundation, spoke about attempts by global institutions to undermine national sovereignty:
“The old division between left and right is now outdated. The current opposition is between globalists and patriots,” he observed.
Deputy Speaker of the Polish Parliament Krzysztof Bosak also addressed the audience, drawing attention to political concepts promoted by the European Union that conflict with Poland’s heritage:
“The concept of so-called liberal democracy is something imposed on us from abroad. It has no roots in our tradition or in our Constitution, which contains Christian values, the notion of public morality, the good of the nation, and even a direct reference to God in the preamble. These are things we can be proud of,” Bosak stressed.
The next segment of the event featured a presentation of the book Last Warning to the West: Hungary’s Victory over Communism and Woke Ideology. The author, Dr. Shea L. Bradley-Farrell, spoke about her work alongside her husband, Chris Farrell. She explained that the impetus for writing the book was her observation of how radical leftist ideologies are undermining the United States. This led her to cooperate with the Hungarian Embassy in Washington, D.C., and travel to Hungary to write about the country’s defense of its national identity in the face of ideological pressure.
“Nationalism, in its true sense, is the foundation of democracy. We decide together what kind of laws we will enact, what kind of economic system we want to have. Therefore, for democracy to exist, there must be a sense of national identity and an understanding of community,” Bradley-Farrell said.
The conference also included an expert panel discussion on woke ideology and strategies for countering it.
Paweł Lisicki, editor-in-chief of Do Rzeczy, reminded the audience of the Marxist roots of the contemporary left:
“The shortest possible statement connecting the Communist Manifesto of 1848 to the current radical left is the rejection of everything that is natural and eternal,” he stated.
Karel Sál, an analyst at the Czech Institute for Politics and Society, addressed the increasingly frequent attempts to restrict freedom of speech:
“In all totalitarian regimes, the foundation is fear. Fear of crossing an invisible line drawn by a web of unwritten rules. Under communism, people could spend years in prison. Today, we are persecuted and punished for our words. This is a fear many people feel,” he emphasized.
Raphaël Audouard also commented on the current situation in France, highlighting interference in electoral decisions:
“The situation in Romania and in France, with Marine Le Pen, is practically the same, even though the countries are different. The legal system has been used to defeat patriots,” he noted.
Finally, Rafał Dorosiński spoke about proposals published by Ordo Iuris and Hungary’s Mathias Corvinus Collegium in response to EU institutions limiting the sovereignty of member states:
“Together with our friends from Hungary, we have prepared a document outlining two ways to fix the current situation in the European Union. One is to reform it, and the other is to completely deconstruct the Union and build something entirely new in its place,” he explained.
